Twenty Five Ways to Discover Prospects
-
List unchurched
families discovered from Vacation Bible School records.
-
Use telephone
directory to survey (phone inquiries) an entire telephone exchange.

Survey (census) your
community. Update former community surveys.

Conduct a recreation
event and invite the community. Register all participants. Make a list and
prospect assignments of everyone not a member of your church.

Ask church members to
identify colleagues who are prospective members.

Obtain cooperation of
associational office on any prospects.

Request church
members to identify neighbors who are unchurched.
-
Identify unenrolled
parents of children enrolled in Sunday School.
-
Find unchurched
parents from church day care center enrollments.
-
Identify unchurched
parents of children enrolled in church kindergartens or church schools.
-
Request mail response
from radio or television audience.
-
Obtain names from
Dial-A-Devotional Service.

Use TIP (Turn
In a Prospect) cards in pew racks.

Use “I know a
Prospect” cards throughout the church. For example conduct an “I Know a
Prospect” Sunday and distribute and collect cards through the Sunday
School.

Follow up on
information received from Sunday School visitors.

Identify and follow
up unchurched person attending Bible Study Fellowships.

Check church roll
against Sunday School roll for Bible study prospects.

Identify unchurched
persons in one’s vocation, discipline, and/or professional club.

Locate persons in
correctional institutions desiring Bible study; provide classes in the
prison.

Check birth
announcements in the newspaper, and send congratulatory letters to parents
of newborns.

Follow up on
prospects discovered by bus/transportation ministry.

Check all family
members of babies enrolled in Preschool Departments and cradle Roll. Add
any unchurched to the prospect file.

Provide guest book in
the church lobby to identify visitors to weddings, funerals, and other
meetings at the church.

Use special
registration forms for special events held at your church.

Register attendance
of every person who attends revival services or special musical events at
your church.
