Church Media Library Resources

Scripture emphasizes the
importance of reading, and of learning as a result of reading. (By

Well-equipped, attractive, and effectively utilized church media centers
and libraries can help a church fulfill its mandate to inform and disciple
believers. Further, when the church makes its library available to
the community, Christian books and resources become tools through which
the Holy Spirit can work to quicken hearts and encourage living daily by
Biblical principles.
The church library media center can be a
vital resource hub for church ministries by providing books, pictures,
resources files, clippings, and equipment. The media center can
provide to use and care for AV resources.
In the midst of a society polluted by
movies and TV shows filled with violence and destructive values, the media
center can provide Christian videos and films as well as books.
When wise choices are made by Media Center leadership, parents can come to
trust the books and videos on the church library shelves as suitable and
helpful for their children. Many church media centers have shelves
well-stocked with family-oriented videos for check-out. By utilizing the
church media center, families not only can feel more comfortable with the
video content their children are watching, but will save money in not
having to pay rental fees at the video store. Although smaller
churches may be unable to have a wide selection of titles, partnership can
be arranged with larger churches to share resources or to establish user
privilege in the larger church by members of smaller churches.
The Bible says:
 | Deuteronomy 31:11-12.
When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place
which he shall choose, thou shalt read
this law before all Israel in their hearing. 12Gather the people
together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is
within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and
fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law: |
| Joshua 8:35.
There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read
not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the
little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them. |
| Matthew 21:16.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? |

| Luke 4:16-20.
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his
custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood
up for to read.
17. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias.
And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was
written, 18. The Spirit of the Lord is
upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to
the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty
them that are bruised, 19To preach the
acceptable year of the Lord. 20. And he closed the book, and he
gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of
all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. |
| Acts 8:30-32. And Philip
ran thither to him, and heard him read
the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou
what thou readest? 31. And he said, How can I, except some man should
guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with
him. 32. The place of the scripture which he read
