Ten Commandments for
Developing Effective Teachers
1. Thou shalt help teachers understand that teachers find their true power in a growing relationship with God and dependence upon Him. 2.
Thou shalt help the
entire church recognize the importance of Bible teachers and their influence. 3.
Thou shalt develop a team
of teachers with love for and gifts in teaching the age group for which they are
enlisted. 4.
Thou shalt provide
opportunities that help teachers understand the characteristics and needs of the
age group they teach. 5.
Thou shalt provide the
space, equipment, and materials needed for effective teaching. 6.
Thou shalt know workers
well enough to provide group and individual learning opportunities to meet their
varied needs. 7.
Thou shalt help teachers
understand and know how to use their teaching resources. 8.
Thou shalt help thy
teachers to know that the Bible is the textbook and the curriculum is the tool
to help them teach that text. 9.
Thou shalt be a positive
model of planning and train leaders to conduct effective team planning meetings. 10. Thou shalt express personal appreciation to teachers for their leadership and encourage members to do so as well.
