At its March 2003 meeting, the Center's Coordinating Council elected Rev. Wayne Proctor, an experienced minister and church leader, to serve as Executive Director for the Center for Christian Growth and Development, a part-time ministry position for the young and growing Center.  Wayne has served as Minister of Education of Hilltop Baptist Church in Raleigh, and Minister of Education and Associate Pastor of historic Edenton Baptist Church, Edenton, North Carolina.  He now serves as pastor of Eure Baptist Church, Gates County, North Carolina.

     It is a privilege to serve as the Executive Director for the Center for Christian Growth and Development.  We are thankful to the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina for their support in both securing personnel to lead training conferences and providing a needed presence in the northeastern North Carolina and southeastern Virginia. 

     In my role with the Center, I have the joy of sharing with pastors and laity information which can benefit them and their churches.  The Center will continue providing, as we have for the past several years, a variety of conferences, seminars and training events for ministers and church leaders.      Just recently I began serving as pastor to a fine small church in Gates County called Eure Baptist.  I had previously served as Associate at Edenton Baptist Church.  God has seen fit to open one door after another, and this has allowed me to be more involved with the Center. 

     In additional to church leader and minister training, good work being done in our area is with Spanish-speaking people.  Another good work is with Seminary Extension. Generally, we offer an two courses each year, one in the winter and one in the fall. (For more information about the total Seminary Extension ministry, click here.)  Another will be the planting of new churches.  Training events which are upcoming will help pastors, deacons, and other church leaders in the areas of evangelism training, deacon ministry, and preaching/teaching.  If you wish to have training in a specific area, please contact me at twp7nba@yahoo.com.
